Cloud vs Mayfair vs Moda: The Design House's Modular Sofa Collections Compared

Cloud vs Mayfair vs Moda

All three of The Design House's modular sofa collections, Cloud, Mayfair and Moda, are onĀ display at our Dubai showroom, each built from the same modular logic: an ottoman, a middleĀ and a corner piece that combine into a shape suited to the room rather than one fixedĀ silhouette. Seen side by side, the real differences are as much about proportion andĀ configuration as price, though Cloud and Mayfair's ottomans begin from AED 4,280, andĀ Moda's Middle V2 begins a little higher, from AED 4,690.

The three collections, at a glance

Ā

How the three actually differ

Cloud. Ottoman, Middle and Corner are available as individual pieces from AED 4,280, so a configuration can be built and planned section by section.

Mayfair. Ottoman, Middle, Arm and Corner are available individually, also from AED 4,280 for the ottoman, with the Corner the highest priced single component at AED 5,980. This is the collection with the widest range of components for a bespoke, larger layout.

Moda. Priced from AED 4,690 across several corner and middle variants, since finish and configuration move the price more within this collection than in the other two.

Because every piece is made to order, fabric, leg finish and exact dimensions can all be adjusted within a collection, so the prices above are a starting point for that conversation and not a fixed ceiling.

Matching the collection to your room's style

Beyond configuration, Cloud, Mayfair and Moda each carry a different visual language worth matching to the rest of the room. Cloud's rounded, low profile suits a relaxed, contemporary living space where the sofa reads as one soft mass rather than a series of distinct pieces. Mayfair's structured lines and the option of a dedicated Arm component give it a more tailored, formal presence, well suited to a room where the sofa is meant to anchor the space rather than sit quietly within it. Moda sits between the two, with enough configuration flexibility across its middle and corner variants to lean either way depending on the fabric and finish chosen.

Leg finish is worth coordinating across a larger project too. All three collections share a similar range of leg options, so a client running more than one collection through the same home, a Mayfair sofa in the formal living room and a Cloud sectional in a media room, can keep the base finish consistent even where the upholstery fabric differs from room to room.

Planning a modular layout before you order

A modular sofa is only as good as the measuring that goes into it. A few things worth working out before choosing a configuration:

• Sketch the room shape first. Ottoman, middle and corner pieces combine into an L-shape, a U-shape, or a straight run depending on the room. Corner units generally need the most floor depth of the three piece types, so measure the corner of the room where one will sit before settling on a layout.

• Leave walking clearance around the footprint. As a general rule for any seating group, keep at least 75 to 90cm of clear floor between the sofa's outer edge and the nearest wall, doorway or piece of furniture, so the room doesn't feel boxed in once the full configuration is placed.

• Decide the configuration before choosing fabric. Since Cloud, Mayfair and Moda are all sold piece by piece, it's worth confirming the final layout, and therefore how many metres of fabric it needs, before committing to a specific performance fabric family. This also keeps the quote accurate from the start.

Fabric and everyday durability

All three collections are upholstered in The Design House's performance fabric range, which is treated with stain-resistant technology across every family; most spills wipe away with water alone, and tougher marks need only mild soap. For general day to day care, vacuuming with an upholstery attachment and avoiding direct sunlight keeps the fabric looking newer for longer, and loose seat cushions on any modular piece will naturally wrinkle with use, so rotating and fluffing them regularly is worth building into a routine, especially on frequently used pieces like the Cloud or Mayfair ottoman.

Frequently asked questions

What does modular mean for these sofa collections?

Each collection is sold as separate pieces, ottomans, middles and corners, that combine into a

configuration a client chooses rather than one fixed shape.

Where does the range begin?

Cloud and Mayfair share the lowest single-piece starting point of the three, each from AED 4,280 for its ottoman.

Can fabric and finish be customised across all three collections?

Yes. Every piece across all three ranges is bespoke, so fabric, finish and dimensions are worked out directly with our design team.

How much clearance should I leave around a modular layout?

As a general guide, at least 75 to 90cm of open floor between the sofa's outer edge and the nearest wall or doorway keeps the room feeling comfortable rather than crowded, though the exact figure depends on the room.
